About the AMERICA club

logo A.M.E.R.I.C.A. is a gaming club based in Auckland, New Zealand.

We are one of the longest running clubs on Auckland University campus. We meet every Tuesday night in the Lower Common Room at Auckland University at 7pm — see the ‘club nights’ page for specifics. At these meetings we run a variety of table top roleplaying games, as well as many card games and board games.

We run a one-off night on the 1st Tuesday of the month where campaigns take a break to allow more mixing and matching of players, GMs and systems. We also run several popular Live Action Roleplaying (LARP) games that have a large player base; each game typically plays on a specific Saturday evening of the month.

Twice a year we host tournaments for gamers. Battlecry is a tournament that draws a nationwide audience of roleplayers, cardgamers and wargamers to compete against each other, with points scored for their performance and gamesmanship. AMERICA’s Cup is an inhouse tournament which is a lot more relaxed and informal - typically including systemless games and fun quirky scenarios where new and old gamemasters can get together.

A.M.E.R.I.C.A. stands for Academy of Middle Earth Roleplaying and Individual Character Assimilation (jokingly taken on by our first president),and has for a long time been associated with gaming, roleplaying, tournament, and social gatherings in New Zealand with all the highs and lows associated with a successful and constantly evolving club.

We have a policy to never turn someone away - we are a very social bunch and hang out at Uni during the week. You can contact us on info@theamericaclub.net.nz if you have any questions about anything at all!
